Agricultural Recruitment Specialists Sign the Armed Forces Covenant
At Agricultural Recruitment Specialists, we are proud to announce our commitment to the Armed Forces community by signing the Armed Forces Covenant. This milestone reaffirms our dedication to ensuring that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated with the fairness and respect they deserve.
What Is the Armed Forces Covenant?
The Armed Forces Covenant is a pledge that acknowledges the unique sacrifices made by members of the Armed Forces. It is built on two key principles:
Those who serve in the Armed Forces, whether Regular or Reserve, as well as veterans and their families, should face no disadvantage compared to other citizens in accessing public and commercial services.
Special consideration is appropriate in certain cases, particularly for those who have been injured or bereaved in service.
By signing this covenant, we join countless organisations across the UK in recognising the invaluable contributions of the Armed Forces community and taking action to support them.
Why Veterans Are a Perfect Fit for Agriculture
Veterans bring a wealth of transferable skills to the agricultural sector. During a recent episode of our podcast, AgriCulture Live, we had the pleasure of speaking with Dawn Turner, CEO and founder of the military charity Stepway. Dawn highlighted the unique attributes veterans offer, including:
Problem-solving and leadership: Veterans are trained to work under pressure and adapt to new challenges, making them ideal for roles in agriculture that require critical thinking and decisive action.
Technical expertise: Many military roles, such as mechanics, logistics officers, and engineers, align closely with agricultural positions like agricultural engineering, supply chain management, and equipment maintenance.
Teamwork and discipline: Veterans excel in collaborative environments and bring exceptional time management and attention to detail.
At Agricultural Recruitment Specialists, we’ve already seen the positive impact veterans can have on the industry. With the support of organisations like Stepway, we’re committed to helping veterans transition into meaningful careers in agriculture.
Supporting the Transition to Civilian Life
Transitioning from military to civilian life can be challenging, and securing suitable employment is often a significant hurdle. Many veterans possess a wealth of skills but struggle to translate them into a civilian context. That’s where we come in.
Working alongside Stepway, we offer tailored support to veterans, including:
CV translation: Our team helps veterans articulate their military experience in a way that resonates with civilian employers.
Inclusive job opportunities: We actively encourage veterans to apply for roles in agriculture and highlight their skills to prospective employers.
Ongoing support: We work with employers to create inclusive environments that foster growth and ensure veterans feel valued in their new roles.
A Partnership for Positive Change
Signing the Armed Forces Covenant is just the beginning. At Agricultural Recruitment Specialists, we’re committed to fostering long-term partnerships with organisations like Stepwayto bridge the gap between the Armed Forces and the agricultural sector. Together, we aim to:
Raise awareness of the benefits of hiring veterans.
Create more opportunities for Armed Forces personnel and their families.
Promote mental health awareness and support within the workplace.
