Farm Manager

Indoor Pig Farm Manager - Devon - £50,000 DOE + Accommodation provided

The Job:
Overseeing all aspects of the 3000-sow indoor pig farm, ensuring smooth operations and high productivity, while Team Leadership entails managing and leading a team of farm workers. Providing training, support and supervision to maintain high standards of work. Animal Welfare is essential to ensure the health and welfare of all livestock by implementing and adhering to strict biosecurity measures and Production Planning includes managing weekly batching from farrowing to finish, optimising production schedules and maintaining detailed records.

You will be required to oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of the farm facilities to ensure a safe and efficient working environment, as well as budget management focusing on managing the farm’s budget, controlling costs, and maximising profitability.

In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting regular reports on farm performance, covering productivity, health, and welfare metrics, while also ensuring that all operations comply with relevant agricultural regulations and standards.

The Candidate:
- Proven experience in managing large-scale pig farming operations, preferably in an indoor setting
- Strong knowledge of pig husbandry, health, and welfare practices
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Ability to plan and manage production schedules effectively
- Strong organisational and record-keeping skills
- Proficiency in using farm management software and technology
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other stakeholders
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of biosecurity and animal welfare
