Senior Herdsperson – Beef Cattle - Leicester - Competitive Salary DOE + Accommodation

The Job:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Herdsperson to manage the care and welfare of a 130-head beef cattle herd. This hands-on role involves leading daily operations, ensuring exceptional animal welfare, and overseeing all aspects of calving and herd health.

Key responsibilities include daily feeding, health monitoring, and routine herd management tasks, as well as implementing and maintaining accurate herd records. You will collaborate with veterinary professionals to develop and monitor health plans, manage grazing and housing systems to optimize cattle welfare, and ensure the upkeep of facilities and equipment. Additionally, you will support and train junior team members as needed to maintain smooth operations.

This position is based on-site and involves hands-on work across all seasons.

The Candidate:
- Proven experience managing beef cattle, with a solid understanding of animal health and welfare
- Strong practical skills in calving, herd handling, and grassland management
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan ahead and adapt to challenges
- Attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records
- A proactive attitude and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- The candidate will ideally be located near the farm or willing to relocate, as on-site presence will be vital for this role.
