Fish Husbandry Technician
Scotland – Competitive Salary + Accommodation Available
The Job:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Fish Husbandry Technician to join a well-established trout farming business in Scotland. This hands-on role is essential in ensuring the health, welfare, and optimal growth of fish stock, working closely with farm managers to maintain high operational and environmental standards.
The successful candidate will play a key role in feeding, monitoring fish health, water quality management, and maintaining farm infrastructure, contributing to the farm’s overall success.
Key Responsibilities:
🔹 Fish Health & Welfare
  • Monitor fish health, behaviour, and growth, identifying and reporting any issues.
  • Assist in the grading, vaccination, and harvesting of stock.
  • Ensure strict adherence to biosecurity and welfare protocols.
🔹 Feeding & Water Quality Management
  • Carry out daily feeding routines, ensuring fish are fed to optimal levels.
  • Monitor and maintain water quality, including oxygen levels, temperature, and cleanliness.
  • Adjust feeding programs based on fish development and environmental factors.
🔹 Farm Operations & Maintenance
  • Assist in the maintenance of cages, nets, and farm equipment.
  • Operate boats and other machinery as required for daily farm duties.
  • Ensure all health & safety and environmental procedures are followed.
🔹 Data Recording & Compliance
  • Maintain accurate records of stock performance, water quality, and feeding schedules.
  • Support regulatory compliance with industry and environmental standards.

The Candidate:
We are looking for a hands-on and proactive individual with a strong interest in aquaculture and fish husbandry.
Your CV should demonstrate:
  • Experience in fish farming, aquaculture, or livestock husbandry (preferred but not essential).
  • An understanding of fish health, feeding practices, and water quality management.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and observation skills.
  • A team player with excellent communication skills.
Desirable:
  • Boat handling experience or marine certification.
  • Knowledge of biosecurity and environmental regulations.
  • First Aid & Health & Safety training.
